This trend on you tube of just putting up solos is annoying. Solos aren't music once they're removed from the context of the song. Roly Platt is a good harmonica player as far as you can tell given he's only playing bits and pieces of songs. The solo in Somewhere Over the Rainbow falls into that category of tunes modified to be playable on a standard diatonic. Given that it's such a familiar tune I found myself wanting to hear the standard melody notes. This song is very playable on a Melody Maker tuning. By the way Daniel's parting shot regarding why that tuning works is dead on, the same is true for the natural minor and harmonic minor. 12 ET isn't as bad a compromise with all 3 of these. fjm
