[Harp-L] Being nice to Harmonica Players

Following Robert Bonfiglio's comments....

Over the last 10 years, I've become much more involved with the harmonica community. Prior to that, I stuck to myself, and thought that all harmonica players did likewise. Four things in particular helped me to develop a more communal spirit

1) Meeting Jim Conway, the famous Australian player (not the Chicago James Conway, who I've also met). Jim is revered in Australia, and makes a point of getting harmonica player together. He introduced me to Brendan Power, and many Australian players.

2) Meeting Trip Henderson in NYC in 1999. I was there for 6 weeks, and Trip took me under his wing. He got me up on stage repeatedly (my first experience of twin harmonicas), showed me a pile of stuff I didn't know, introduced me to Bob Meehan and to Filisko harmonicas.

3) SPAH in 2005. Everyone was there to share their knowledge and love of the instrument. Cara Cooke was a standout.
