RE: [Harp-L] Gus changes his name

I've used any one of these fictitious characters to annoy my daughters
and/or to create obvious test data in a hurry.
There's...
"Lusty"... (often shortened to Lus when you're speaking directly to him...
As in "Come on now Lus... You know there's a war on, get it right
okay?"...) He often has a surname... Usually Ingersol..."
Or...
"Spinny... (He's usually the scientific type with no science to back up his
type.)"
Or...
"Brick (Often rendered Brick Beaumont, this one works particularly well here
in Texas... To the degree that... My daughter once apparently referenced him
in her fifth grade social studies class when they were attempting to explore
politics... Her teacher... Says... I was quoted as saying... "He's a real
Brick Beaumont type..."... None of us have any idea what I might have meant
by that...)"

I'm sure I have more, but Mr. Rubin said I'd better know these
scales/holes/notes perfectly by next week or Lusty would come and turn off
the lights, rearrange the furniture and swap blow for draw doubtless
resulting in a universiary melt-down, the likes of which hasn't been seen
since Brick Beaumont attempted to ride up San Juan hill on a stoned sloth.
(Thank God I got at least the appearance of harmonica content somewhere in
there!!)

Subject: [Harp-L] Gus changes his name

Longtimers at harp-l will remember discussions of that annoying harp player
who shows up and plays at everyone else's gig whether he's asked to or not.
Play onstage or in the audience, he doesn't care. Nor does he pay much
attention to when the song begins or ends or what key it's in.

If that loudmouthed cartoon rooster Foghorn P. Leghorn had a harmonica, he'd
act a lot like this character. We all recognize this character and have
experienced his annoying behavior (maybe even in the first person, much as
we hate to admit it).

List members gave him a name: Gus. "To guss" became a verb for awhile, and
there was even a Gus B. Goode who occasionally posted his latest exploits to
the list.

But not everyone was comfortable calling him Gus. After all, what if a real
harmonica is named Gus and doesn't behave like that?

So I'm asking the list what other name we might give this guy. Something
descriptive, brief, and hopefully comic, but not a name that a real person
might have (and not something that's a registered trademark).

Winslow
