Jimmy Reed was not the greatest harp player but very good, not one of the guitar heroes, and a better than average blues singer And he had a concept of total musicianship which resulted in a distinctive style and classic cuts... Big Boss Man, Insurance, You Got Me Dizzy etc. 

Most of the masters of blues harp performing today do a Jimmy Reed soundalike in their recordings and live perfomances. In spite of being a rack player, Jimmy Reed is essential in his influence on blues harmonica and the unique sound of his music which is widely recycled by admittedly capable musicians.
