i rarely play cd's.  they go onto my file server, then onto the shelf.
i don't have an mp3 player, but whenever i play music at home it's
via the computer.  for the car i burn mixes.

this isn't unique to cd's.  back in the day, when i bought an album 
on vinyl, i would copy it to cassette immediately, a more useful
format.
