[Harp-L] Composite wood combs

I was lucky enough to stumble upon a set of 7 Kinya Pollard custom harps on
ebay and snatched them up. I've never bought used harps before, and I feel
a bit creeped out about playing after somebody else, no matter how nice or
healthy he may seem to be. So I'll clean them first. Here's the thing.
Each of the harps has a composite wood comb. I don't know what composite
wood combs are or how vulnerable they might be to isopropyl alcohol, etc.
Would it be safe to soak them, ultrasonic jewelry cleanerize them, or would
I need to limit myself to careful cleaning with a brush dipped in alcohol
(or some more preferable disinfectant solution)? What makes a composite
wood comb "composite" anyway? Any information or learned opinions would be
appreciated.

SPAH program for this year sounds terrific. Why no workshop on plagiarism?
Hope to see you all there. I've already cleaned out my root beer bottles
for the jams.
