Re: [Harp-L] Remembeing Dan Lynch

Forgot to mention the Pryor Double Dark. Do they sitll make that stuff. Its like Rolling Dark Poor Mans Micro Brew. Bob Shatkin was one of the most underrated harp players. It was Bob who exposed me to Shakey Walter Horton. Rhythm Willie. I will never forget the workshop he did with Annie Raines (Paul and Annie) and he did "Ice Water Blues" in straight and Cross to demonstrate the bending.

I used to go there quite a bit in the late 70's.
Dan Lynch, 2nd ave. and 13th street. Great place to be to jam on sundays.
Shatkin, Bill Dicey, Dave Therault, Steve Guyger, those are some I remember.
Bob Shatkin would be giving harp lessons on the street corner,
guys would come up every so often by appointment for there lesson, and if
we we're lucky, Bob would give one on stage too if he was i n the mood.. Man, that guy was
such an under rated player. Great place to be on sundays and only an hour
from my place in CT.

Happy Independence Day to all!
I was cleaning up my old vinyl and suddenly came up some old "Spivey records"
One was the Dicey Ross Band. Immediately, I was thrusked into some memories of
that great old Bar south of Unon Square "Dan Lynch" The gretest joint in NY. The
only place you could hear gereat blues and not spend half your paycheck. The
Bill Dicey Band, Barbeque Bob and the Spar Ribs, The Holmes Brothers, some of
the gretes hapr players. Nat Riddles, Danny Ruso, Adam Gusglow Satan and Adam)
the late Bob Shatkin Uncle Boogie and the Boogie Man,
the jams, the critism, I remember Bob Shatkin getting on my case for my high
note bends were so off. The great durmmer Charles "Honey Boy" telling me to
"keep it simple" What a time. How many folks were there? Sorry forgot to mention
Rob Paparozzi <
