Re: [Harp-L] death of live music?

where I live in central arizona there are plenty of hard rock clubs but two places to place jazz.

At my regular noodle house gig (3-6 shows per month) I was told NO DRUMMERS PERIOD. No last night I was told we have to be more entertaining and add a singer mayboe somebody who can sing like Nora Jones. Without notice our pay got cut from $325/night (3 hr gig) to $175!!! When I mentioned the descrepency the owner said "You don't have a drummer".

We've been playing this place regulary for four years. We have the largest draw and I have some of the best players in town in my group but he doesn't care. So now I have to get a singer and a BOSE PAS. I can't wait to use it... nobody else that I know uses this BOSE thing but dagnapit since iceman (who is one of my favorite x-men btw) swears by it, it must be great. But then again maybe I should sleep on it because Summertime cometh.
