I know you own a Digitech RP200.  The RP200 has a CD input designed precisely for this purpose.  Run a 1/8" stereo cable from the output of your MP3 or CD player to the 1/8" stereo input on the RP200, and run your mic into the 1/4" input on the RP200.  The RP200's output, either headphone or 1/4", will blend these two sources (and will apply whatever processing you choose to the mic input).
