[Harp-L] attaching a gooseneck to the top of an amp

A few years ago, someone on this list wrote of a clever way to attach a
gooseneck to the top of his amp. It consisted of mounting a baseplate of some
sort with screws to the top of the amp, into which the male end of the
gooseneck could be screwed in when needed (to hold a mic in place in front of the
speaker). What kind of a base plate could i buy that would work?
I tried the hardware store today, with no luck.
