[Harp-L] wireless batteries

Samson claims that a triple-A battery in the transmitter will last for
14-hours but I think that's wildly optimistic. It's best to change the
battery about every five hours.

i generally get a couple of 4-hour jams, and practicing at home between them, out of a AAA battery. the AX-1 has an LED in the transmitter that is supposed to glow a steady red when the battery needs changing, but i never let it go that long. i put a fresh one in when packing up, and throw the old one in a ziploc labeled "partly used" so i can use whatever's left in other devices.

also, you reminded me of a trick i use to keep track of which batteries i've used and which ones are new (i can't just throw away the used ones, as they need to be recycled). when i get new batteries, i put a strip of masking tape (rob paparozzi blue, of course) on each new battery. then when i go to use it, i remove the tape. simple and foolproof, i can even find a fresh one by touch if need be. you can do the same thing with rechargeables. just tape them when you recharge them.
