[Harp-L] Cyril Davies Tribute concert - venue change

Cyril Davies and Alexis Korner were the force behind the UK Blues boom
of the early sixties. Cyril started playing 12 string and performing
Leadbelly songs and ended up championing the Chicago blues sound of
Muddy Waters and playing amplified harmonica. Cyril died aged 31 in
1964 just as the young guns they had encouraged were beginning to take
on the world.

Following the sudden, unexpected, closure of the new Marquee Club in
Covent Garden, London, the Cyril Davies Tribute concert on Saturday
evening, 1 March, has had to find a new venue. The Marquee was the
venue given in the February issue of Harmonica World magazine.

The Tribute concert will now take place in The Dome, above the Boston
Bar, Tuffnell Park, London on Saturday evening, 1 March, 2008.

Up to date details of the concert and links to the promoter's web page
can be found on the Cyril Davies web site.

It is 51 years since the first blues recordings by Cyril Davies and
Alexis Korner at The Roundhouse pub in Soho and 50 years from the
first visit by Muddy Waters to London to play with Chris Barber and
his band.

If anyone has any memories, recordings or images to share from these
days, please contact me. The site is being built using contributions
from people who played with or saw Cyril Davies.
