I have been using PayPal extensively for ten years. I am also an eBay PowerSeller that uses it, and my website catalog, www.RawFoodLife.com, uses PayPal for payments on the few things I sell there.

You have got to realize that PayPal processes millions of transactions every single day, maybe every hour. Sure, there are going to be problems for a few folks - and to them, it may seem like the end of the world. Everything is true - from their perspective. Paypal, which is not a bank (an advantage in my opinion) can unilaterally do things you may not like - but it is all part of the intensive security system, which you will like in the end. In all the years I have used PayPal, processing many tens of thousands of dollars, they only shut me down once - and it was my fault. It was cleared up quickly. A year ago someone hijaaked my eBay account (can't happen now thankfully) and hit all my bank accounts through PayPal for thousands of dollars. PayPal refunded the money within a few days - one of my banks, a big one, wasn't able to do that - and in fact I closed that account since their service and security was so bad. PayPal handles problems pleasantly and
quickly. I love their customer service. So if you take all that in perspective of the billions of transactions, you have a better chance of getting hit by lightening than having problems.

Just in case, since my problems last year, I always use a physical PayPal security key with my PayPal and ebay accounts. In addition, I never keep more than a few hundred dollars in the account, and only associate one debit card/ checking account with it, allocated only to PayPal transactions - then I never keep much in that account. If you do that, you limit any exposure. But since last year, I have had no probalems anyway.

PayPal is also cheaper to use than some merchant accounts and often has better security. If you have a perfect credit rating, get a regular merchant account. Google Payments is a possibility
, as is a Yahoo store. But I have had better results from PayPal myself and trust them totally. I recommend going ahead with PayPal.
