I might have been doing something similar after playing with a friend of
mine back in the 1960's  Tyrone Maphis who later became bassist for Ike and
Tina - we used to jam in our back yards and his Uncle - County Joe Maphis,
King of the Strings came by one week in his tour bus.  And when I was
playing harp he got out his harp and "Choked" it.  That's what he called it.
Tongue blocking with a kind-of-octave method.  I played around with the
sound for a while and had a pretty good thing going... but just let it go
after a while.

Maybe time to resurrect some "choking" harp.

It sounds just like the "missing" or phantom octaves.
