[Harp-L] Golden Melody wood combs

Austin,

  I first have to ask what do you hope to accomplish using wood combs? What are the reasons for your love/hate relationship? Looks or playability?
  If it's looks, give it a try, if it's for playability I say this;
  I have been Customizing Marine Bands and Golden Melodies for nearly 9 years. I feel that the Plastic Golden Melody comb is Fast and more terrible or higher pitched if you will. Great for some players not so good for others. I have R&D many different types of composites and wood combs for golden Melodies. I believe Larry (Iceman) has one from me, from back in 2000, A golden Melody composite comb. I have used Earl the pearl combs for golden melodies for clients. I feel that they mellow the terrible out a bit and take some of the over all volume out of the instrument. And yes they are pretty looking! The work is of great craftsmanship. Again these qualities are good for some, not so good for others. I am not voicing my opinion with this matter. Just giving feed back that I get from my clients. It's kind of like amp tone, I love the fact they they all have their own tonal uniqueness, Just like harmonicas.
  You wont know if you like it, or if it inspires you to a new level of playing unless you try them, give it a try, nothing to loose.
