YES!
My band does a version of the song "Thursday" by the band Morphine and I use
it as a tasty filler behind the guitar between verses.
We also do a version of "Still a Fool" by Muddy that is more along the lines
of how Robin Trower might do it if he had put it on the "Bridge of Sighs"
album. We put a very slow, throbbing, deep and distant vibe to it. Thick and
trancy. I use a really long reverb (a brown Boss digital reverb pedal) mixed
with chorus (Boss Super Chorus pedal) to do a simple, long-drawn, three note
solo. The tone modulation the chorus adds during long drawn notes fits
perfectly with that "Trower" stoner sound. I only use either effect to such
exaggerated levels sparingly so as to maximize the effect it has on the
audience/song.... otherwise it becomes (in my opinion) trite.

Other than a delay pedal, which I keep on with just a touch to fatten tone,
the chorus and reverb are the only effects I use. The delay stays on for the
whole show (except for country songs which I play clean) and gets shut off
for "Thursday " and "Still a Fool".
FYI: I run everything through a Harp Commander III and a BBE Sonic Maximizer
through the house PA.
