RE: [Harp-L] Buddha Harps

Yes on those Buddha-facilitated over-blows!!
I found... That after playing those a while..., and, as you say, getting the
four five and six out smoothly, I can go back to the Special 20 and somehow,
those over-blows come out smoother also.
The same thing happened with me and the ten-bend. I'm not as solid on the
ten-single as I'd love to be..., but on the Buddha harps, somehow, it's more
in my span of control... And somehow again, something transfers back to
other harps.
It might be, as you suggest, that it's always a good thing to be exposed to
as many harps as we can!!
Yeah! That has to be it!!

Subject: [Harp-L] Buddha Harps

I just got a small set of harps delivered from Mr. Buddha. I am always going
to be a blues gay at heart but I am broadening my horizons into over-blow
land and this was a great opportunity to get some optimally tweaked
equal-tuned Golden Melody's to explore with. Wow, what a difference compared
to what I am used to. I have become fairly proficient at punching out the
4,5 & 6OB on my standard harps. Now with these baby's the notes just flow
out effortlessly. I need to cut my air volume WAY WAY down to play these
harps. Talk about tight tolerances! I have the feeling that I will be in
"choking" stage for a while as I learn to adjust.

Bottom line review: great harps, great service, everything I expected and
more. Now is the time to place your orders cuz my guess is the early pricing
will be history soon. Lot's of time consuming work involved. The kind of
work I will never be able to do myself. I just don't have the patience and
motor skills for this type of stuff.

I also want to give a shout out to my all-time favorite customizer Mr. Jimmy
Gordon! I am lucky enough to have a nice handful of his Marine Bands. He is
da bomb for those harps. 95% of what I do works best on his craftsmanship.
Now I am giving 5% to Mr. Buddhas craftsmanship for a growth spurt. Like a
kid in a candy shop I am. I can never have enough harmonicas in my home.
They make me feel safe, warm and fuzzy in this crazy world that we live in.
I also need to mention that my everyday out of the box harps are now the
Seydels. I love my 1847's. Slowly but surely my Special 20's are getting
sent to the back of the bus. Funny thing is; they are still great harps. You
know, come to think of it, I never met a harp I didn't like. Even a Pocket
Pal in C will do in a pinch.
