Re: [Harp-L] changing impedance on 545

Hi Steve,

The beauty of the 545SD is in its dual function. But once you can't get
out the XLR pins and would rather leave the mic as is, you can use a
regular lo-Z mic cable and then extend it with the impendance
transformer (from lo-z to hi-z).

But again, why to waste money if you have sort of a built-in
transformer in the mic itself. Follow the instructions given in the
official Shure chart for that mic - it's easy. The only requirement is
to disassemble the connector.

HereÂs a new wrinkle.
I have a 545SD with the on off switch that works great as a low
impedance
mic, but IÂd like to convert it to HiZ. The problem is, someone fudged
the
set screw up and then poured some kind of glue into the body so as to
keep
that end from falling out (I guess). Bottom line is, despite an hour
of
trying to get it out, I canÂt. So my question would be:
Is there any way of converting the impedance output in the output cord?
Or
does it have to be switched on the inside?
