And even cooler if you use red duct tape.

I've been using an SM 58 through the PA for years Rick. I never have any
handling problems, I just cup it and go, but everybody's different. Sounds like
to me you have a good idea with the duct tape. Hell, anytime you can use duct
tape it makes ya more manly anyway doesn't it? As for you girls out there it
makes ya more aggressive, unless ya just wanna be manly anyway.

I recently bought a SM57 to mic an amp, and I tried it as a harp mic. Wow!
I like it very much; the feedback resistance is way better than the bullet
mics I normally use. The tone is brighter and more articulate, which sounds
great in some contexts. I have a couple of questions:

1. I don't have XLR inputs on any of my amps, so I am using the basic Radio
Shack 17-dollar XLR to 1/4 inch low-to-high impedence adapter. Is there a
better option out there? Is there any need for a better option?

2. What about handling noise on the SM57? I know lots of great players use
this mic, and I know Greg Heumann has a solution that involves fixing the
rotating grill to the element so it won't move. Are there simpler
solutions? Can I wrap it up in duct tape like Roger Daltrey? I promise I
won't swing it around...
