[Harp-L] James Cotton

Saw James Cotton in Ohio last week. He looked like he was having more fun than I have ever seen in other performances. While it's true that his technique is not on a level it once was, this was a perfect lesson in how music has to come from some unexplainable place inside. Call it the heart if you will. This was real "music" that came from that place. One major disappointment was the sound mix. They mixed him to have that muddy, brown Chicago sound. James doesn't need that. James IS that! The result was that a lot of his nuances were completely lost. They were there but not discernible to someone not listening for them.If he comes your way, make a point to see him. You won't regret it.
