Yeah, I meant 5 draw. i had major 7 on my mind and it must have permeated my brain completely. But Draw 5 is actually what i meant. Thanks, Winslow.

i just figured out 12th position a few weeks ago. haven't used it at a gig. But it seems like it would be good for playing certain material with major 7ths -- stuff i used to try to play in First position, but that never seemed to sound quite right in First.

Using draw 7 as root, draw 6 is the 3rd, so you can bend it for a flat 3rd if you want to. all of this is a work in progress for me. some one else pointed out that the minor pentatonic scale in Third position is the same breath pattern as the major pentatonic scale in 12th position. So, playing in 12th is sort of like playing in Third...i think (?).
