Don't Miss the Opening Reception for "Charlie Musselwhite: Son of  
Mississippi, Citizen of the World" Tonight, April 21st, 5 til 7 p.m.  
Please join us in the Main Gallery for the opening reception of  "Charlie 
Musselwhite: Son of Mississippi, Citizen of the World." The new exhibit  will 
be celebrating the life and work of master harmonica player Charlie  
Musselwhite and features memorabilia from throughout his life and career.  

Mr. Musselwhite was born in Kosciusko, Miss., and grew up in  Memphis, 
where he sought out and performed with artists such as Furry Lewis, Gus  Cannon 
and Will Shade of the Memphis Jug Band. He later moved to Chicago, where  he 
quickly became involved in the blues scene and performed with many artists  
including Johnny Young, Little Walter, Muddy Waters and Big Joe  Williams.

He has received 24 W.C. Handy Awards, six Grammy  nominations, and back 
home in Mississippi he received the prestigious Governor's  Award for 
Excellence in the Arts in 2000 and a marker on the Mississippi Blues  Trail in 2009.

The opening reception is sponsored by Coahoma  Community College and 
Friends of the Delta Blues museum. This exhibit was funded  in part by the 
Mississippi Arts Commission, the Rock River Foundation, the  Chisholm Foundation 
and Friends of the Delta Blues  Museum.
