Subject: [Harp-L] Stand by Me composite project/(Playing For Change)

Guy: It's actually called the Playing for Change Project. Stand By Me was
the first song in the series. Grandpa Elliott, the harp player in the
first two songs (they're in order) was discussed after the first round of the
videos here some months ago.

I think the whole idea is inspiring and wonderful, so it certainly bears
repeating, and your posting of it is especially timely, given that the
CD/DVD of the documentary is coming out this month.

Here's the YouTube link with information about the project (to build
schools):

P.S. and this last one I found starring Grandpa Elliott is just plain
fun....anyone for
'symphonic' music to soothe a baby, played by one of the great N'Awlins
street musicians/characters?

Friends,
I don't know if this has made the rounds yet, but below is a link to a
composite music video of âStand By Meâ whereby tracks were laid by
different
singers and musicians from different places around the world. The finished
product is tremendous! âStand By Me" was originally released in 1955 by
The
Staple Singers and released again in 1961 by the Drifters.
This composite version is a real toe tapper, so turn up the speaker volume.
