Re: [Harp-L] Re: Amp overkill and topic overkill

Best solution - have your own amp, get your own sound. Tell sound man to mic your amp, set mic tone controls to flat and no effects. This way, it should be your stage sound reinforced through the main PA w/out change.

When I've gone direct into PA, I'll tell sound dude - roll off the highs completely, everything else flat, no effects. (I'll usually have my own digital delay unit for reverb/echo).

The most fun I had w/sound company was smooth jazz gig at small outdoor festival. Used BOSE Systems - ran everything through them for the band, got a great onstage mix through my mixer, left channel to BOSE, right channel to sound guy - no monitors needed. All sound guy had to do was raise or lower volume control for one channel to push it to the crowd. Funny watching this crew w/huge mains, monitors, winking blinking racks of amp/effects lights, snake cables, etc, reduced to one guy with one finger on one control knob. Sounded GREAT, though.
