Re: [Harp-L] Wonderful album by Hermine Duerloo

Slim -

I have to agree. I acquired a copy from Hermine when she was in San Francisco with the Willem Breuker Kollektief (in which she mostly plays alto sax).

It's a rare treat to hear harmonica featured in a big-band context, and Hermine is a great player - for a sample of her playing, check out her featrure with Al Jarreau on Youtube.

I just downloaded Hermine Duerloo's recent album "Soundbite" from
iTunes (the cd is also available on her website, but it costs a bit with
shipping charges). This is a really great album. Most of it features really hip
big band arrangements -- all beautifully arranged, played, and recorded.

Her chromatic tone is very warm and her playing is exceptional.

There's some cool funky stuff on it as well, including a great version of
Stevie's "Too High".

Overall, terrific stuff. Highly recommended!
