[Harp-L] Re: Harp-L Digest, Vol 66, Issue 93

Seth,
I most often do use a natural minor Gm on this one. There are few, if any
notes that get in the way. You may want to be a bit more conscious that you're
playing the natural minor, to avoid the habitual tendency to "bend down" to
get a minor note, as you might do if playing on a major keyed harp. But the
Gm natural minor will work great. For me, a little more relaxed this way, not
struggling for overblows or unfamiliar blow/draw patterns. Ultimately, and
perhaps obviously, I need to get more fluid on playing different positions.

My band does this in Gm and I was just talking to our harp player about this
the
other day. For you folks who play this one, what do you use? Does 2nd on a
natural minor tuning work OK, or do the other flat notes get in the way?
Does
3rd also work, or are there likewise other problems to be had? Do you
"fake it" like Sonny Boy in 2nd on a major tuning? Do you do
something else entirely?

Seth
