Re: [Harp-L] Total tongue block?

It's a human thing to want to find out an "ultimate" answer, where one
usually doesn't exist.

A very wise man once taught me a GREAT SECRET - "No one really knows what
you think they do". In other words, everyone is ultimately clueless, but looks
to someone else for a definitive answer. This may be an attempt to not work so
hard on something themselves and hope that someone else will hand them some
kind of ultimate answer.

TB and single note are two techniques. Why short change yourself by only
learning about one of them? Go for the gusto, have it all. Once you work through
both, you, yourself will decide what sounds/works best for you. Also, (gasp),
you are free to reevaluate and change your opinions as time goes on.

I happen to agree with Hummel, but either way it's only an opinion that can
never be proven. Does it matter? Only if you want to believe that there is
only one right way to play the harmonica. I'm convinced that we'll never
really know for sure what the ODB guys did in this regard, no matter what
the speculation. I, like many players, like to mix it up. I've been told by
some "purist players" that if I don't totally TB everything, my music
doesn't amount to a hill of beans. I take that with a grain of salt. I like
salt on my beans.
