Re: [Harp-L] Jimi Lee on Adam Gussow

Hey Rob,

Those are Seydels Jimi is playing! :>)

...also named in second (Cm natural minor, is like an F harp retuned to minor). Now available in Stainless Steel reeds through the "Harp Configurator" (Jimi loves those stainless steel reeds) ...and also available in the Favorite and Session models.

Best,

Phil....

Thanx....Jimi Lee is amazing....I'd LOVE to be able to play RACK like that!,-)

I've been doin this song for years with with Bernard Purdie and also Chuck Rainey who both played with the late great Turrentine...

Tomorrow night I will play it with Dave Stryker who was Stanley Turrentine Guitarist..

This is the best position to play it in by the way IMO...

The song is in Cm using a Natural Minor tuning to keep all those nice cross harp licks over the vamp sections Cm7 to F7. Lee Oskar names this harp 2nd Cm(N)

Here's the changes:

/Cm7/ F7/ Bb7sus Cm7/
/Bbm7 Eb7/Ab G7/Cm7/ F7/

B.Section
//Ebmaj7/Abmaj7/Ebmaj7/Abmaj7/
Ebmaj7/D (half dim) G7b9/
/Cm7/ F7//Cm7/ F7/
I hope Jimi wins in Memphis!!

best,
Rob Paparozzi

Subject: [Harp-L] Jimi Lee on Adam Gussow

Adam Gussow introduces a performance of Jimi Lee performing with his
harp-rack and guitar the tune Mr. Magic, made famous by Grover Washington Jr. in 1974.

<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzJTvD5QNg8&feature=channel_page>

Jimi starts playing at about 2:30 minutes into the video. Listen to that
great tone and smooth vibrato.

Check it out. I only have 2 of Jimi's CDs and the tune is not on either. But
the fake book, "The Real Book Vol. II," has it in Eb. Fake book style offers
melody line in treble clef and chord names.

The same page, page 268, is available from

<sheetmusicdirect.com>

which offers a single downloadable printout for 99 cents.

<ultimateguitar.com> offers free asci/typewriter-style guitar tab with
slightly different chords.

Phil Lloyd

Hope this inspires.
