[Harp-L] Spher-O-Dyne Model PE 53

Ron, could your mic possibly be a PE 533? The 533 is the only mic I know of that had that half dome grill......

Looking through an old bag I came up with four Shure Microphones from back in the early 70's probably from "The Sagebrush Boogie Band". Unidyne B model PE515 which I see there exists that model on Shure's website. Unidyne III model PE54D. One that I believe is 565SD Unisphere Vocal Microphone it does not have Shure's black band around it any longer. I remember someone wanting to remove all the commercial labels from our equipment in those days. Damn Hippies! Finally, the mic Spher-O-Dyne model PE 53. It's a vocal mic with a thin black band around the spherical grill. The top of the grill is the traditional mesh under the middle thin black band (silver on the 565SD) is a solid silver half sphere which is normally mesh on most grills of Shure vocal mics which I have seen. When I searched the Shure site it asked if I meant the Spher-O-Dyne model 54. But, as I have searched further it says "Your search did not match any documents". What gives? Does anyone know the identity of this mic? Is it a copy cat? It has the traditional Shure identification band the reads completely: Spher-O- Dyne MODEL PE53 HIGH IMPEDANCE SHURE BROTHERS INC. EVANSTON.ILL., U.S.A. Please send the cavalry in on this one. I need one of you mic aficionados to confer with on this one. Well, just as I started to post this I tried another search. And, came up with the SPHER-O-DYNE PE53V which has a volume control knob, but my mic has the traditional on/ off switch and no volume control knob. Still searching for the real deal on this mic! Any helpers?

Thanks,

Ron
