RE: [Harp-L] Harp L - Neuvou ricci

Glad someone didn't forget to post a comment on Adam Gussow like I did! To
me, he was the link between blues and over blow techniques. A true pioneer,
very unique, creative and original throughout. He was one of those guys
that slipped under the radar of many harp players up until he started
"tubing" all of his lessons and many now know of him today. Again, one of
those guys I found out about year's ago by sifting thru 1000's of Cd's at a
local record store that allowed you to listen before you bought. I was
never a fan of Satan and Adam. Just a huge fan of Adam's playing and
approach and he should get more credit than he seems to get.

This ties in to why I don't get the hype over JR as do some others...unless
you love his music for the music, not just the harp. No doubt, he is very
skilled and its apparent he has paid his dues, but I don't think of him as a
trail blazer. From what I've heard (yes, I've seen him live too) he seems
more technically advanced than Adam but less than Howard Levy or Carlos.
Nothing strikes me as new in that I too heard these guys do it all before
Jason did it and can tell for the most part where he picked up much the
phrasing and progressions he uses.

Just because someone did it first doesn't make it a bad thing as we all
assimilate, regurgitate, Blah Blah.

Who Blew your mind?
Thanks for reminding me about the mind blowing Dennis Gruenling. I am going
to hit my archives...Very ground breaking.
you mentioned Adam Gussow....? time for me to search the internet I guess.
