[Harp-L] Re; Set lists Rick

Hello Davey G here from NZ. I have been reading a few of the comments and I agree with Rick on the subject of playing music after a set ! In the mid to late 90s I was playing gigs with two different guitar player vocalists as a duo .
One of the guitar players was a semi accoustic player we played covers like Van morrison and Bob Dylan , and blues like Sonny terry Brownie Mcghee and many more in a light Blues sets, we used to play an Ernest Raglin cd in our breaks I cant remeber the name of this cd but it was very cool and cruisey for back ground mood music a a low level for the audience so they could chat away etc.. The other guitar player I was gigging with he was a Fender Strat player , we played allot more agressive blues numbers and some smoother cover songs Eric Clapton and Bozz Scaggs and many old standby blues songs like Dust my broom etc ..In our breaks we had a mixture of cruisey instrumental songs playing at low level again just loud enough for people to chat along with.
In regards to a set list yes, I agree a good band always knows what they will be playing next! every player should have a set list in the band, unless the band has all songs down pat and then its just a matter of communication in the band as to what will be played at the time !. I hate dick head guitar players who think they are smart and just play a song without introduceing it to the band or the audience for that sake , its just not a good thing to do if your playing a cover at least give the origanl artists of that song some recognition !.
My pet hates are ...Only one thing worse than a harp player that plays too much and that is a loud deaf and ignorant lead guitar player, I hate em :-( .
