RE: [Harp-L] Sonny Terry riffs book

Hi Ben,

Congrats on the upcoming book, and thanks for the shout-out. I can't wait to see it and I'm sure it's great. I feel as though Kent Cooper and Fred Palmer sort-of handed the ball off to me, and now I'm happy to hand it off to you. Chris Smith's exhaustive BM&ST discography certainly also warrants attention, and let's not forget Gary O. no doubt has a ton of anecdotes and facts to offer, should he find the time and/or the notion to take to the typewriter.

After all, the world will always need more Sonny info -- as Woody Guthrie said in 1946, "Sonny Terry has got to be explained to the people or his art will go over their head. And in understanding Sonny Terry, you will learn how to enjoy and live in the real people's music that is on a train that's bound for glory."

Amen.

cheers,
Tom Ball

Hi folks,

People have been asking when my new book on Sonny Terry riffs will be ready.

So - the recording is complete and we hope the book will be done late June/early July. If you'd like to be the first to know please go to http://www.harmonicaworld.net and subscribe to the newsletter!

If you want to see the way I approach teaching Sonny Terry check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2uBiRYzEvY

BTW I am indebted to Tom Ball (with who I have shared many a Guinness over the years) for his infectious enthusiasm in the Sonny Terry department!
