Re: [Harp-L] Sonnyjr and his amps big sound at low volumes

For low volumes I have set up my Cruncher with a 12AX7 to boost the gain. At
low volumes that tube set-up gives snarly bark. I tend to leave the Bass set
high as that 12" is soooo fat.
All his amps are unbelievable at any volume, you just need to get used to
the idea that you now have an amp that behaves the way WE need it to, not
guitar players. What I mean is that you have to get over the mindset of
"babying" the controls like we had to when using guitar amps. Gary's amps
controls are set to respond to our needs so they are senstive to what we
want, but not prone to the feedback issues we fear with other amps. The SJ
amps are like a laborotory in that there are very very many ways to
experiment with developing your amplification. Revel in the freedom!
