Doug Tate was a big fan of Blu-Tack to do all sorts of temporary jobs in building or prototyping harmonicas - including tuning reeds. If I recall correctly, Brendan Power and perhaps Pat Missin also used Blu-Tack for temporary retunings -lower the pitch of a reed with a small lump of Blu-Tack (sometimes with brass filings rolled into it to increase its weight), then remove it again to return the reed to its original pitch.

When Doug was living in Florida and bemoaning the lack of Blu-Tack, I sent him some similar stuff I found in my local hardware store. It was blue and performed the same basic function of being a pliable lump that would stick things to walls, but Doug found it not nearly as ideal as genuine English Blu-Tack.
