Re: [Harp-L] Charlie Winston-Like a Hobo.WHAT KIND OF HARMONICA IS THAT?

I just interviewed Benjamin "Ben Henry" Edwards of the Charlie Winston Band. The link that you posted did not bear fruit. But, I assume you are referring to the video "Like a Hobo" which takes place on a roof top. Ben Henry is an amazing young talent. He studied under Brendam Powers as part of his degree in university. He is playing a black HohnerCX-12 which has the Brendan Powers mode done by Brendan Powers, himself. Ben Henry directed me to
Greg Huemann from Blows Me Away who happens to be another one of the "Harp World Gods" like Chuck Gurney, Sonny Jr. just to name a few of the gentleman that display their genuis in producing technical magic. Ben Henry is predictably one of the new rising stars of harmonica with a degree in Popular Music, with gurus like Brendan Powers, Dave Barrett, and Jason Ricci. He plays the SJ 410 masterfully. Uses mics by Huemann. He is an accomplished percussionist with true background and depth. A wonderful dulcimer player. And, has some wonderful chops and he is an insightful harmonica player. Playing those altered CX-12's and he likes to play diatonics as well. We sat around before his sold out gig in Luxembourg after the interview and he is the most genuine, interested in harp and the harp world, enthusiastic young harp player that I have run accross in a long time. We played awhile where we traded licks and ideas, and this kid is loaded, talented, and gifted. Our interview can be heard on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 17:00 - 18:30 hrs. on "Tuesday Bistro" Radio ARA 103.3 or 105.2 FM , Luxembourg a multilingual station. On "Bistro" I cover local music events, concerts, free music, cultural events, interviews, etc. This interview is a rather short, but fun introduction to Benjamin "Ben Henry" Edwards as an emerging entity in the HarpWorld. Also, a brief interview with Charlie Winston and his take on harmonica in his music and his song writing. Charlie Winston is also an amazingly talented young singer, song writer, and performer. I went to do the interview at around 17:00 hrs. in the early evening and didn't leave to go home until 2:30 a.m. The two young men were captivating to say the least. But, the entire band, management, and technical team were warm, open, acomodating, and family like. It was a wonderful experience. The program can be streamed by going to www.ara.lu "Livestream" and clicking on your preferred speed. I always go to the alternative link for you if you are having trouble gaining access by the traditional means. But, the alternative link goes to a German version which is not difficult to follow, but might be a little different if you are not used to reading German. The site of Radio ARA is not totally in English just as a warning, so use your linguistic balance to navigate yourself through. Give yourself a bit of time to find it. And, if the programing is not in English when you are finding the site, don't panic my program will be in good ole American English! Remember to adjust to the correct time zone and changes if you do not live in Central Europe.

Hope ya'll get a chance to listen!

Ron
