Re: [Harp-L] "Runaway" Norton Buffalo with Bonnie Raitt live

Norton once spoke about how he was doing this solo w/Bonnie Raitt live one time - he had all four harmonicas all ready to go and did a solo in the middle. Then, he was to do the solo once again at the end of the tune and one of the harmonicas just disappeared. He now had only three where he once had four. He never did find out what happened to it.

Norton could also effectively tell very funny stories.

If memory serves me right, he was the son of one of the musical creators of the score from the original "Wizard of Oz", so was always surrounded by extremely talented Hollywood type people growing up.

Thanks a lot for this. IÂve never seen a live take on that tune. Very 70s ...
(unsurprisingly).
For a clumsy one, such as I, this is a very awkward strategy for a solo
(and he clearly is in trouble at the end of it), but the overall effect it
great.
I suppose this way of dealing with the chord progression comes from his desire
to play everything in 2 pos? I cannot recall anything from him in, say, 3 pos,
which would have been my preference for this tune and on the whole made
it considerably easier to go through the whole thing with one Bb harp.

Cheers,
/Martin
