I do know the young man's name is Jang Li (the first place winner in Solo  
Diatonic- Blues/Rock/Folk/Country)  Only 25. He also won first place in the  
category of Solo Chromatic/Jazz. 
 
While looking online for news from Trossingen I found  this posting by Jean 
LaBre.  He has other very useful harmonica  information on the 'net, but 
this particular article references the role of  judges in harmonica

PS: In the first photo from 1993 I believe I recognize Will Galison -  
although I'm sure there are a few other famous harmonica names I'm simply not  
knowledgeable enough to recognize.
