The 1938 movie "Carefree" has Fred Astaire playing harmonica while dancing and playing golf. I don't know who the real harmonica player was.

I think it was Jerry Adler?

In the 30's there were many dance/harmonica combinations-remember the Major Bowes Amateur Hour (smokey joe might).

Yes I do. There was also the Wilken's (Jewelry co) show where the Sgro brothers won. Ted Mack was another. And there was the Baltimore Sun Times where both Adler brothers won on different years. Most of the cities with any semblance of an entertainment scene had the contests. Bowes was a floating deal. City to city. We owe Bowes a LOT for starting it all.

The most famous though were Larry Adler and Paul Draper in the 1940's.

I think Paul Draper (and his orchestra) was one of the many 'nomes de plume' of our illustrious friend Danny Welton (who, after his performance at spah Memphis 94, will forever be known to me as "The Guy"). Danny Wilson would know for sure.
