Look up Johnny Sansone or Rocking Jake's Calendars. There is also 

Smoky Greenwell, Greg Izor & Sunpie. I grew up there and there's plenty of good 
blues. 

If Mamas's Blues is still open, check that out.  Also Micheals on St. Charles 
has 

many a Cajun octuve harp player.  Mane , jess take a break on harp music & soak 
up the nola  

 vibe. Try out Algier's old point bar or the rock n bowl. Pick up a copy of 
"Where 

yat?"  If Bonarama's playing see them!, or the Iguana's or Mason Ruffner, or 
Kermit, or, or, or, or...
