Yes, he plays an E on a Cm chord.
The first phrase of the solo is : 
Bb (quarter) and then eighth notes : A G F E Eb G
All these notes are on the Cm chord.
Beat is on Bb, A, F and Eb, so the E is on the up beat (is that the correct
word in English ?).
As far as I can see, it is the only true alteration present in the whole
solo.
Playing a major third on a minor chord is really risky but, of course, it
works perfectly here ... Chet is magic :-)

Great.  When you say a major third on the Cm, you mean he plays an E?
Or the major third of Bb, a D?
