My students do.  When playing amped you hear every little deficiency
magnified.  It is a great learning tool.

Mic and amp technique are nearly as important as harp techinique if one
wishes to sound like the people heard on stage and on records.

Still, some harp players insist that new players should not play amped until
they have achieved some arbitrary level of acoustic proficiency.  It makes
no sense.  I've fournd that new players who play BOTH methods from the
beginning advance faster and sound better.

Additionally, if playing amped insprires a new player to play more, it is a
wonderful thing.
