There is NOTHING WRONG with relying on a mic'd amp!
 
So long as you have someone on the "mixer" who knows what they are  doing.
 
But if you have a "sound person" who thinks your harp should be "real  
quiet"...
You will need a 40 watt PLUS Tube amp. SO THAT YOU CAN DECIDE YOUR OWN  
VOLUME.
 
I say 50 watts or less because of "feedback" problems.
The best harp amp I have ever personally OWNED was a 1960s JMI Vox AC 50  
top, with two 2 x 12  Vox Cabs
.
But these days, GET A SONNY Jr.
 
Probably the best harmonica amplifier available today...
 
They were not available when I bought my AC 50!
