Re: [Harp-L] Subject: Suzuki diatonics available at Costco

I´ve been meaning to write something about long lasting harmonicas, with some rather paradoxical finds I´ve made, but until then:

The Suzuki Folkmaster is in sheer endurance the most outstanding harp I´ve ever owned. Only based on one (1) harmonica, in C.
It sounds thin and tinny, has protruding coverplates, sharp edges, so in a sense it´s perfect for masochists; it´s possible to over-blow, but unstable. However, as a practice harp for us with limited means ...
And it has taken an enormous amount of punishment for 10 years now, twice retuned, and still playable. Quite impressive in my book.

Is this a representative experience of the Folkmaster?

I´ve never seen them here in Sweden, but for the price i paid in the UK back then it´s a find. And if they´re to be had for 20 $ I´d run to the nearest Costco, whatever that is.
