[Harp-L] How many do you bring

For the past several years I've been bringing the same set of harps to every gig. I learned a long time ago to expect the unexpected, especially when horn players show up to sit in. I carry a double set of the most commonly used keys - A, Bb, C, D, E, F and G, plus one each of low Eb and low F, and 4 minor tuned harps (Am, Cm, Dm, Gm). I also carry one each of Ab, Db, Eb and F# in regular tuning. All of these are out-of-the-box Marine Bands or older, wooden comb Old Standbys, including a couple of pre-war examples. Mike Easton keeps all my harps in great playing condition, and I recommend his outstanding work with no reservations.
In addition to the harps mentioned above, I carry a couple of late model Kratt Warblers in the keys of A and Bb. Finally, I carry a 12-hole solo-tuned Marine Band in C and a 12-hole Marine Band in low C. I play in two Chicago style electric bands with some horn-oriented tunes in the repertoire and I also gig in a more down-home semi-acoustic duo, so I have a variety of harp roles to cover. The final count is 28 harps total. Believe it or not, these all fit, along with a pair of mics and cables, in my Fender Chicago Toolbox. On the rare occasions where I use a delay pedal, I take a Boss RV-3, which Annie Raines hipped me to a while back. It's small enough to fit into my coat pocket, and has the most flexibility of any pedal I've tried since retiring my tube Echoplex and Premier Reverb Unit years ago.
