Turns out this duo is from the Slovak Republic.

Lubos Bena on dobro and Matej Ptaszek on harp/vocals.

My first impression that this was overdone and highly affected, but Sr. Joe may have a point that he is doing phonetic singing which lends to the surreal nature of his voice. Apparently he is an accomplished street musician, known for his use of a brass horn for no-power amplification. Check out some of their other Youtube vids to see what I mean.

Hee hee. When I saw the name Lubos and then the Bena, I (being part Polish and having a Czech/Slovak wife), figured it was a middle eastern European name. So I was having a little fun to see what developed.

As I said the other day, last Feb on our So. & Cen. American cruise, we had a girl singer from (would you believe) Bulgaria. She was maybe the best torch singer I have ever heard...live. She sang in English (actually American) with absolutely NO accent. Meanwhile she only spoke about 6 or 7 words of English. Go figure.
