[Harp-L] Re: Jazmaan's Powerbender YouTube

Hey everyone, i really appreciate the critiques I've received since
my last little rant about not getting any comments. I don't do this
for money you know. I do it strictly for attention! ;> But
seriously, I learn a lot from frank criticism, especially from other
harp players I respect, so don't be shy about negative comments.
Harmonica John commented that the last video was "not pleasant" and
actually I agreed with him. Doug H. said I should have used a
backing track, and I also agreed with that. So I just re-recorded a
second (and definitely my last) attempt at this tune. Please check
it out and let me know if its an improvement (or not). I think part
of the reason the last version was a bit unpleasant was that I kept
hitting the draw 10 while playing the tonic chord on the high end.
That note is an "avoid" note for that chord, turning it into a Major
11th and it wasn't pretty! None of that this time around! I made
some other adjustments too but I'll let them speak for themselves and
see what you think.

And for those who've asked me to demonstrate the difference between
playing this tune on Powerbender vs Richter, all I can say is pull out
your trusty A harp and try to play along in second position. Unless
you're a master of the overblow, (and maybe even if you are), you
won't get too far! Even on the Powerbender the tune's not exactly
easy and requires some precision middle and high register draw
bending, probably more precision than I could deliver. But there's
absolutely no way I would even try to pull this off by overblowing a
Richter harp in 2nd position and my hat's certainly off to anyone who
can do that. Especially with all the long tones this tune requires.
Nothing like a nice long slow overblow to send most players running
for cover (and their listeners too!)

Okay, so without further ado: here's the new improved version "How
Can I Be Sure Too?"

I'll even leave the old version up for a while so you can compare.

Thanks for watching, listening, and commenting!
