ÂThe Harmonetta can be played either as melody/harmony in the
regsiter of a tenor instrument. It can also be played as Michael has
so well shown in a full chording structure to include complex chords
that are not used much anymore. It really is a very wonderful
instrument and mapping it's structure to make parts is a lot of fun
(even if it is a good amount of work with the calipers and
micrometer). There are things that could be done to improve it, but
overall a wonderful instrument. Unfortunately, no longer made by
Hohner. The key board layout alone is wonderful in the way it allows
the ease of play of a good number of chord groups.

Hope that answered your question about it's playable scale and
ability. In standard octave language it plays from C3 to B5 (the B
below C6). Which puts it playing from inside the Base cleft through
Treble cleft. If you ever get to own one it is worth it even though
they are a good bit of work to tune.
