No comment on the relative cost of gear, but sound guy problems don't 
change - Cotton is let down badly by the sound guy in 'Don't start me 
talking', with barely the last bar of his solo getting put up to volume. 
The reason I play a big amp is so I don't have to rely on the sound guy 
as I've been let down so many times in the same way - some of them seem 
to have an urge to take down the slider on the harp channel when it's 
not being played (maybe to fight feedback issues), and then miss most of 
your solo, or all of it, before they realise you're playing. At big 
venues you're totally reliant on them paying attention though, and 
sometimes they don't.
