Like I said the other day, unfold a McDonald's napkin and loosely  
wrap the item in it. Crimp the ends of the 'sausage' or put tape or a  
gum band on them. Lay the whole enchilada in a chafing dish and cover  
it with bicarbonate of soda. Let it sit in the sun for a day, bring  
it in and let it sit another 3 days. It should be fine. In extreme  
cases, use activated charcoal. I got mine from expired gas mask  
filters, but you can buy it at the aquarium supply store.
