Re: [Harp-L] Steve Wonder's pizzicato - available with a tongue block?

No offense intended, Winslow. I just want someone to show me how to do it.
I can 'get' most known technique on harp, and have some of my own. I just can't get that one!
Cheers,
RD

Rick -

What's provocative? I'm merely being factually correct. Whenever someone says
"you can't do this," my critical mind goes to work because I hate false
limitations. So I try to determine whether the statement is true or false.

In this case, I have to conclude that the statement that you cant do a Stevie
Wonder pizz with a tongue block is false. The part of the tongue used for the
technique (in the area where you articulate the sound "k") is available whether
or not your tongue is on the harp. That's a factual statement.

I never said I could make it sound like Stevie. What I did say was that the
technique that both I and Rob described is available whether or not your tongue
is on the harp.

I can demo the described technique somewhere other than harp-l if I have a spare
moment.

That's really a bit provocative Winslow; I want some actual demonstration; can
you really do the Stevie pizzicato, pucker or tongue block? I haven't heard
anyone else do it.
Show me!

Actually, you can still do what Rob describes with your tongue on the harp.
Whether you can make it sound like Stevie does is anther matter.

You won't be able to do it if you tongue block. As your tongue is already
occupied. Steveland is a pucker player. :)
